How much money would you say that you spend on skincare products every year? Hundreds of dollars, right? Believe it or not, the vast majority of those skin products contain chemicals that can become toxins in the body, actually hurting your overall skin health rather than help it. That’s one of the reasons why we suggest creating your own DIY Skin Sugar Scrub!

In this video, we are going to be talking about a super-effective and healthy Sugar Scrub that you can make yourself in no time at all. By using this scrub, you will be avoiding harmful chemical on your skin while also promoting skin health through natural ingredients. Plus, you will be saving yourself a ton of money!

Sugar scrubs are a fantastic way to rid your body of dead skin cells, boost collagen production beneath the skin, clear out build up in your pores, and reduce overall acne and inflammation. Not only can you use it on your face, but you can use it all over your body.

In our DIY Sugar Scrub we make it with coconut oil, brown sugar, honey, and our favorite essential oils.

The first ingredient is coconut oil. We’ve talked about the benefits of coconut oil in the past, but it can be especially great for your skin. It’s antibacterial and antiseptic properties can help keep your skin clean and clear. The second ingredient in the Sugar Scrub is, unsurprisingly, sugar! Sugar is healthy for your skin when applied directly to it. Sugar is terrible for your skin when it is eaten. In other words, sugar is good for your skin, terrible for your gut. To double down on the sweet, this Sugar Scrub also contains honey. Honey is a natural healer, great for acne and rashes. It also helps to lock moisture into your skin.

The final ingredients in this DIY Sugar Scrub are up to you. We use essential oils in our Sugar Scrubs to address a variety of different symptoms. You can add whatever essential oils you wish to treat your specific skin conditions. Some great options include tea tree oil, wild orange, lavender, and frankincense.

After you make the scrub, it should safely last one or two months (if you don’t use it all first!)

Remember, minimizing the toxics and chemicals that you are exposed to on a daily basis is a surefire way to improve your overall health. So in the future, try cutting out the chemicals and enjoy fantastic skin health by creating your own skincare products!

[Video Transcription] DIY Natural Sugar Scrub

Hi I’m Dr. Zyrowski and I’m Ashleigh and in this video we are making a DIY sugar scrub.

You know it is so important to actually make sure that you’re using good quality beauty products and the reason for it is a couple things. Number one and primary reason is to make sure that you’re not putting a whole bunch of chemicals on your face and on your body every single day. It’s estimated that over a 150 chemicals come in contact with your body every single day and that is not setting you up for success when it comes to your health. So we need to reduce toxic exposures and making good quality beauty products are one of the huge ways were going to do this. Now the other reason it’s a great benefit to you is because it’s gonna save you a lot of money. So why is it that someone would use a sugar scrub in the first place?

I use our diy sugar scrub one to three times a week to help just get rid of those dead, to really help to boost collagen, to help get rid of the buildup in my pores, reduce acne and reduce inflammation all of those things. I use it not only on my face but I use it all over my body just to help tighten my skin, make the skin softer, more youthful.

Right so let’s go ahead and talk about the ingredients now. Let’s start with coconut oil. So what we’re using all natural ingredients which are in most cases found in most people’s homes so that’s a great thing so starting with coconut oil. So you’re going to use coconut oil in order to keep your skin nice and clean and clear. So coconut oil will function as the antibacterial but it’ll also function as a anti septic and so coconut oil is a great ingredient to have in your sugar scrub.

Right and you can’t have a sugar scrub without some sugar. So sugar is great for your skin, not good for your gut. So what were going to do is we’re gonna use some sugar to naturally exfoliate. Get rid of those dead skin cells it’s also a natural human can’t so it’s helping to keep your skin more moisturized and it’s a natural source of glycolic acid which is found to help with sun damaged and aging skin.

Right, right next ingredient is honey. So honey is gonna do a couple good things for your skin too. So honey is a natural healer; it’s really great has a really great healing capacity. So not only is it great at healing…So people who have acne or some sort of you know rash or something like that they’re trying to overcome it’s going to benefit that in a great way but also it helps lock in that moisture in your skin and keep your skin nice and soft.

Absolutely, now we have a few essential oils over here. The best part about making your own sugar scrub is you can make it according to what you need for your skin. The first oil that we have here is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is naturally antibacterial as well it’s great for acne prone skin. The next we have is wild orange. Wild orange helps to naturally boost collagen production. It’s also antiseptic as well. We also have frankincense, a great oil for anti-aging. And lavender. So if you’re somebody who has you know some skin rashes like eczema or psoriasis and you just want a more calming effect for the sugar scrub lavender is your choice.

That’s awesome let’s go ahead and make this thing now, what do you say?

Sounds good. So first you’re going to add a quarter cup of coconut oil, 1/2 a cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of raw honey. You’re going to mix these together. I’m going to add 12 drops of essential oil of your choice. Today I’m using tea tree oil and wild orange. After you have those ingredients mixed up you can add the sugar scrub to a jar of your choice, put the lid on and store in your shower to use for the next one to two months.
